​Woven screen filter bags are typically cylindrical and feature an open top and a closed bottom. They are designed to be placed inside a filter housing or vessel. The filter bag's body is made of woven monofilament mesh material.

Woven nylon mesh is manufactured by taking nylon fibers and weaving them into a mesh screen.Nylon woven mesh is more resistant to wear than polyester mesh screen. It is also suited for applications where resistances to alkalis are required. Nylon is flexible and fairly strong, depending upon the exact force or pressure being placed onto the mesh screen. In addition, nylon is easy to clean and highly chemically resistant, which gives it a particularly long service life. Nylon can withstand moderately high heat (temperatures in the range of 340° F) making them particularly useful for industrial or safety applications.
